Cuckoo on Bodmin Moor this afternoon.
As the intended "target species", wheatears, had fledged and didn't want to pose for my camera I took a short hike out into the moor.
Whilst standing next to the De Lank stream a cuckoo came and landed in a gorse bush about 30 metres from me and started calling furiously.
I took a few shots and then dropped to the ground and made my way closer. Fortunately the bird was more interested in catching big hairy caterpillars than worrying about me so I was able to bag a few nice pictures.
It later moved to another bit of gorse where I watched it catch 3 more caterpillars but each time it ate them I couldn't get a clear view for a photo .... but I'm more than happy with these!
